8th Wonder Festival 2027

Looking for something big to do in Moreton Bay this summer? 8TH WONDER, a new one-day festival of sound and culture, makes its Australian debut at Eatons Hill Outdoors on Saturday 30 January 2027. Headlined by New Zealand band L.A.B, the festival brings together artists from Aotearoa, Australia and the wider Pacific for a day built around reggae, roots, soul, dub, R&B and contemporary Indigenous sounds.

It’s an all-ages event, so it works for a day out with friends or the whole family. Alongside the music, there’ll be food trucks, bars and stalls spread across the newly expanded Eatons Hill site, just north of Brisbane.

🎶 The Line-up

8TH WONDER has a line-up that spans several generations of Pacific-influenced music. Artists announced for the Brisbane event are:

  • L.A.B
  • Te Wehi
  • Sir Dave Dobbyn
  • Aaradhna
  • Che Fu & The Kratez
  • Corrella
  • The Elovaters (USA)
  • Ladi6
  • Son & Water
  • South Summit

L.A.B are the headline act. The New Zealand band, known for their hit “In The Air”, blend reggae, funk, soul and blues into a sound of their own. They also co-created the festival, and this is their only Australian show this summer, so it’s a rare chance to see them on this side of the Tasman.

Sir Dave Dobbyn is one of New Zealand’s best-known songwriters, with a career that includes the much-loved “Slice of Heaven”. His set is likely to be a highlight for anyone who grew up with his music.

Te Wehi is one of the newer names on the bill and has been building a strong following, while Aaradhna and Ladi6 bring their soul and R&B to the day. South Summit, an indie rock band from Western Australia, add a different flavour to the line-up, and The Elovaters travel from the USA to join the bill.

With Che Fu & The Kratez, Corrella and Son & Water rounding things out, there’s plenty of variety whether you’re a long-time fan of roots and reggae or just after a good day of live music.

🌺 More Than Just Music

8TH WONDER describes itself as a celebration of music, culture, place and connection. It was created by L.A.B with promoter Loop and the Comiskey Group, and Loop’s history of championing music from Aotearoa and the Pacific shapes the feel of the event.

The festival launches in Rotorua a week earlier, on Saturday 23 January at Village Green, before crossing the Tasman for its first Australian edition. If you’ve been waiting for a festival in Brisbane that puts Pacific and roots music at the centre, this is it.

🍔 Food, Drinks and Festival Stalls

You won’t need to leave the site to eat. Brisbane food trucks will be serving globally inspired food made with fresh local ingredients, and the event features a range of local suppliers and festival stalls across the grounds.

There’ll also be bars with local craft beers, along with other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, so there’s something for everyone in your group.

👨‍👩‍👧 Bringing the Kids

Unlike many music festivals, 8TH WONDER is open to all ages. Under-18s are welcome as long as they’re with a parent or lawful guardian, and under-5s get in free with general admission. The festival is billed as family-friendly, which makes it a good option if you want to share some of your favourite music with the next generation.

📍 Getting There and Planning Your Day

The festival is held at Eatons Hill Outdoors, the outdoor event precinct at Eatons Hill Hotel on South Pine Road. The precinct is on the site of the former Eatons Hill Golf Course and has recently been expanded, so it may look different from the last time you visited.

Eatons Hill is around 25 minutes north of Brisbane city. Before you go, check the festival’s official website and social channels for the latest information on parking, transport options and set times, as these details are usually released closer to the event.

A few things to keep in mind for a summer festival:

  • Plan for the heat. It’s an outdoor event in late January, so bring sun protection, wear a hat and drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  • Organise your ride home. If you’re planning to have a drink, arrange a designated driver, taxi or rideshare before you head out.
  • Buy tickets early. VIP tickets are limited, so if you want one, don’t leave it too late.

🛏️ Stay Close to the Festival

If you’re travelling from further afield for 8TH WONDER, staying nearby means you don’t have to worry about a long drive home after a full day of music. Petrie Mill Motel in Petrie is a practical base, with Eatons Hill reachable via Gympie Road and South Pine Road through Strathpine.

Staying overnight also gives you time to explore more of the area the next day. You could spend a relaxed morning along the North Pine River or head out to Lake Samsonvale. You get the chance to see more of Moreton Bay while enjoying the festival.
